Middle Base
As the children move into Middle Base (Y3 and Y4), we
encourage them to become more independent both
academically and personally, with an increased sense of
responsibility. They are inspired through an innovative
curriculum that encourages personal learning through
topics such as Pirates, Healthy Eating, Tudors and
Vikings. We offer first hand experiences to enrich
their learning, by visits to Hampton Court Palace and
the Look Out, by inviting special visitors into school,
plus themed days and weeks.
For the first time this year, children in both
years have the opportunity to take part in a residential
visit. Year 3 are spending one night at Hindleap
Warren, and Year 4 are again spending three nights at Osmington Bay.
The children in Year 4 are lucky enough to have the
opportunity to learn a tuned instrument through a scheme
run by Surrey Performing Arts (?). Each child is
privileged to have their own instrument to learn on.
As part of the International Schools Award, Middle Base
raise money to sponsor a young child’s education in
Zambia. This helps the children to understand life in
other cultures and have an awareness of other children
less fortunate than themselves.
Every year we are proud to present a Christmas
Production with a lively combination of music, singing,
dancing and acting. All the children get to take
on roles be it singing in the chorus or a main acting
role.
