Spiritual Development at St Paul's

Spiritual development at st paul's

At St Paul's, we will ignite a passion for life and learning in every member of our school community by providing the best possible education, where children and adults grow through our core values rooted in FAITH and will confidently succeed through the strength and love of God.

'Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.' (Proverbs 22: 6)

Spiritual Development at St Paul's
At our Church of England primary school, spiritual development is at the heart of everything we do. Rooted in Christian values and traditions, we provide a nurturing environment where children are encouraged to explore questions of meaning, purpose, and faith. Spiritual growth is not confined to religious education lessons; it is woven throughout the whole curriculum and daily life of the school.

Collective Worship
Daily acts of worship provide opportunities for reflection, prayer, and celebration. These moments help children to connect with God, with one another, and with the wider world.

Christian Values in Action
Our school ethos is shaped by values such as compassion, respect, forgiveness, and hope. Children at St Paul's are encouraged to live these values in their relationships and decision-making.

Curriculum Opportunities
Across subjects, pupils are invited to reflect on awe and wonder in the world, to consider moral choices, and to appreciate creativity and beauty as expressions of the divine.

Personal Reflection
We provide quiet spaces such as our reflection area and provide guided opportunities for children to pause, reflect, and develop their own sense of identity and spirituality. Our children benefit from whole school pause days looking at a particular spiritual theme.

Community and Service
Spiritual development is also fostered through active participation in the school and wider community. Children learn that faith is lived out through service, kindness, and responsibility. Our children visit the Church on a half termly basis. In Key Stage 2, each year group leads a service for the whole school community, from Easter in Year 3 to Christmas in Year 5. These services are well attended and bring our whole school community together.

Our children give donations to the food bank and also donate Easter Eggs to be given out as a part of the Church's Easter Lunch project.

Our choirs also have an active position in the community. They sing each month at the Church coffee morning and visit residential homes to sing and spend time with residents.

Through these experiences, we aim to help every child grow in wisdom, compassion, and faith, preparing them not only for academic success but for a life rooted in spiritual awareness and moral integrity.

Community pause day, october 2025

The children took part in a Community Pause Day. The day was filled with thought provoking activities to help the children to understand their position in our community. We spoke to members of our wider community, including the Mayor of Addlestone. The children enjoyed creating clay models of themselves and also researching charities that help the wider world.

Spirituality Pause Day, June 2024

A wonderful opportunity to ponder, pause and connect with our spirituality.
